Shenandoah National Park Plans Controlled Burn

Posted: Updated:

HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) - Shenandoah National Park says access to Big Meadows will be restricted during a controlled burn.

The park says the burn will be conducted between Tuesday and Oct. 15 in the open area across from Byrd Visitor Center. It's expected to take one day.

The park says a controlled burn is conducted every year to maintain the open vista. The burn prevents encroachment by trees and shrubs.
