Ruckersville Community Holds 5K for Girl with Epilepsy
A Greene County neighborhood raised $3,000 Saturday morning for a six-year-old who may need brain surgery for her epilepsy.
The Wexford community in Ruckersville hosted the benefit 5K for Shiloh Thompson.
More than 100 people of all ages pounded the pavement to help the family cover Shiloh's medical expenses. Some racers have been practicing for weeks to prepare for the event.
"Every night me and my brother, we would run our neighborhood and we started out one lap around the neighborhood and like the next day two and then the next day three and then right before the race - me and him did the whole thing just to get used to it," said Aubrynn Hall, Thompson's neighbor.
Skydivers flew into the neighborhood as part of the post-race celebrations. The event also featured an awards ceremony and raffle.
