CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) - University of Virginia researchers have received a $1.5 million federal grant to develop a six-month online course for teachers who work with toddlers.
The university's Center for Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning received the grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The online course will be rolled out as a pilot project next summer.
It will provide teachers with strategies and resources that balance between the classroom and individual children. An area of emphasis includes supporting language development.
Researchers plan to give teachers tablet technology for use in the classroom when needed.
