Candidates for Albemarle BOS, City Council Gather at Forum

Candidates for Charlottesville City Council and Albemarle County's Board of Supervisors squared off in a forum held by the Jefferson Area Tea Party. There were two separate forums for each race Thursday night at the Albemarle County Office Building.

Board of Supervisors and City Council candidates participated, discussing issues such as the Route 29 Western Bypass and shared what they plan to bring to the table if elected.

The four candidates for city council are: Michael Farruggio (R), Bob Fenwick (D), Kristin Szakos (D), and Charles "Buddy" Weber (R).

The eight candidates for supervisor are Phillip Seay (I) and Diantha McKeel (I) for the Jack Jouett District, Rodney Thomas (R) and Brad Sheffield (D) for the Rio District, Dr. Liz Palmer (D) and Duane Snow (R) for the Samuel Miller District, and Cindi Burket (R) and Jane Dittmar (D) for the Scottsville District.

The Tea Party collected questions from potential voters by email to ask the candidates at this forum.

Clarification: Diantha McKeel was in attendance despite a previous report she had declined due to her commitment as an Albemarle County School Board member to attend its meeting.
