Waynesboro Police Department Press Release

On today's date at approximately 7:40 AM, emergency personnel responded to the 1400 block of East Main Street for a report of a single vehicle crash.  Upon arrival, they found a 1993 Ford Taurus overturned in the roadway.

Officers determined that the driver of the Ford, Kyle Lee Kelly, 27 years old of Waynesboro, was travelling east on Main Street when he apparently fell asleep causing his vehicle to leave the roadway and strike a utility pole owned by Dominion Virginia Power.

Kelly, who was wearing his seat belt, was transported by the Waynesboro First Aid Crew to Augusta Health where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Kelly has been charged with reckless driving; his vehicle was totaled.

The eastbound lane of Main St had to be shut down for about an hour while emergency crews worked the scene.
