The Hook Publishes Last Issue after 12 Years in Charlottesville
Old issues of The Hook
A Charlottesville mainstay newspaper is shutting its doors. The Hook weekly newspaper released its last edition Thursday after 12 years.
Editor-in-Chief of The Hook, Courteney Stuart, says it was an amazing ride - but she is still feeling very positive about the future of journalism in Charlottesville.
"It's been a unique experience and certainly it's been unique to be in a town that supports two weekly papers as well. I think Charlottesville is media-rich and we're hoping to see investigative journalism continue on in the spirit of The Hook," said Stuart.
Stuart will be moving to the C-ville Weekly - once The Hook's rival paper - and hopes that her former co-workers will continue to pursue journalism.
The Hook's resources will be combined to make C-ville Weekly more robust and enhance its online presence.
