VA Candidates for Governor Face Prime-Time Debate

Posted: Updated:

McLEAN, Va. (AP) - Republican Ken Cuccinelli and Democrat Terry McAuliffe are set to square off in their first prime-time debate.

The candidates for governor will appear Wednesday in a Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce showdown that several times in the past decade has made a difference in the election.

The debate will be televised live for the first time this year in prime time. Each of the last three Chamber debates has produced memorable moments that have helped define - and sometimes derail - a campaign.

It's also the first debate after Labor Day, when the public starts paying attention ahead of the final sprint to the Nov. 5 election.

NBC News political director and chief White House correspondent Chuck Todd will moderate.

The debate runs from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday. We will be carrying the debate live on NBC29 and live streaming the debate on our website.
