The UVa men's soccer team got two first half goals from Eric Bird and cruised to a 4-0 win over previously unbeaten Providence.
Head Coach George Gelnovatch also earned his 250th career win.
Virginia got two first career goals in the second half from Patrick Ross in the 68th minute and Riggs Lennon in the 81st minute. Providence came into the match with a record of 5-0-2.
Bird said, "I think that was huge for us because Providence is a dominant team and they like set pieces so that was big for us to not only clamp down on that aspect of the game but keep the clean sheet."
During the Cavaliers three game homestand they've scored ten goals and hope to keep that momentum as they hit the road. Gelnovatch said, "the easy part now is doing what we did today which is being really good in front of the goal while at the same time keeping that rhythm that we have in the attacking half. Combinations, finishing our chances, restarts, all good stuff."
The Cavaliers improve to 3-3-1 with the win and play next at Syracuse on Saturday.
