VA Meetings to Focus on Future Jobs, High Schools

Posted: Updated:

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Jobs and high schools of the future in Virginia will be the focus of conferences this week.

The state's next steps in science, technology, engineering and math will be discussed at the second annual Governor's STEM Summit on Friday at John Tyler Community College in Chester. Gov. Bob McDonnell says the conference's goal is to prepare students for jobs by further strengthening the collaboration between education and business.

On Friday and Saturday, a discussion of the high school of the future will take place at the Science Museum of Virginia in Richmond. It will give teacher, businesses and community leaders the chance to speak about improving education practices and building better schools.

The cost to attend either event is $50, or $85 for both.
