Charlottesville Festival Celebrates Latin American Culture
Hundreds of people in Charlottesville celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month with a music and folklore festival.
Sin Barreras and Luminaria Cville hosted the first Cville Sabroso at McGuffey Art Center Saturday. The event featured flags and performances from several different Latin American countries.
Charlottesville's vice mayor also proclaimed Saturday as "Cville Sabroso Day."
"Basically it means that from now on, every year, the third Saturday of September we're going to celebrating Cville Sabroso - Charlottesville has flavor and Latin American music and folkloric dances and food and celebrating culture, Latin culture during that time," said Estela Knott, director of Luminaria Cville.
Organizers say the location serves as a cultural center - an important concept in Latin American communities.
