Fardowners Restaurant won the Crozet Culinary Competition for Charity.
More than 300 people turned out to watch four top chefs battle it out in Crozet Thursday night for the second annual Crozet Culinary Competition for Charity.
It happened at Old Trail Village. Chefs had an hour to prepare an entrée and dessert based on secret ingredients: lamb loin, honey, Gouda, sweet potatoes and duck egg.
Crozet Arts and the Crozet Lions Club benefited from the event.
"The benefiting is not just for the charity; it's for the whole community and the way the community pulls together and comes together to help," said David Hilliard, owner of the Lodge at Old Trail. "Crozet is such a great place. They're never in your neighbor's business but when they need help, they're always there."
Crozet Arts plans to use the money to establish a scholarship fund. The Lions Club will direct the funds to programs that provide eyeglasses and hearing aids to people.
