Some members of the Charlottesville High School orchestra will be working on their French all year, but they need your help to put it to practice.
The school is raising money to support a trip to France so the string ensemble, composed of 55 advanced students, can play in the cities of Besançon and Paris.
The student orchestra kicked off its fund drive Thursday afternoon with a performance on the downtown mall.
"We're very excited about the trip to France and working hard, practicing hard, rehearsing hard and thinking about our programming and what performances, what pieces we're going to play in France and we're really looking forward to it," said orchestra teacher Laura Thomas.
Several school leaders showed up to throw their support behind the orchestra.
