Jefferson Area Tea Party to Hold Candidate Forums

Posted: Updated:

The Jefferson Area Tea Party is collecting questions for candidates in the races for Charlottesville City Council and the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors.

The Jefferson Area Tea Party is hosting a pair of candidate forums Thursday, September 26. The group says every council candidate and all but one supervisor candidate has agreed to take part so far.

Tea party members came up with the questions for previous forums. This time, the party is opening up the topics for any potential voter to submit.

"Not everybody can go to the Board of Supervisors or City Council meetings. Right at the grassroots level here, you can kind of weed out who we're getting for our candidates and have a direct input on the questions being asked," said Jefferson Area Tea Party Chairwoman Carole Thorpe.

The candidate forums begin at 6 p.m. on September 26 in the Lane Auditorium inside the Albemarle County Office Building.
