Golf Tournament Honors Man, Benefits SPCA

Posted: Updated:

Golfers teed off Sunday in Crozet to remember a friend and help animals. The Tony Fogliani Golf Tournament kicked off Sunday to honor a friend and husband who passed away too soon.

More than 120 golfers entered the shotgun captain's choice event. Last year the proceeds generated almost $10,000 for the SPCA.

"It's the third Sunday of every September. We come together today. There are friends here and family and folks we don't even know that come back here after year for this tournament," said Elaine Fogliani, the widow of the honoree.

Participants celebrate afterwards with a reception that includes cake and cigars.

The Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA says it will designate the funds to provide low cost services.
