Waynesboro Police Department Press Release
The Waynesboro Police Department has arrested a Waynesboro man on numerous charges stemming from a domestic incident, in which he held a family member against her will and continuously assaulted her for nearly twelve hours. On September 10 at approximately 2:30 PM, officers arrested Miguel Angel Caamano-Sotero, 25 years old, after he fled on foot when they came to interview him at his apartment in the 700 block of King Ave about the allegations made by the 23 year old victim. After running from officers, Caamano-Sotero hid in a mostly full garbage can in a nearby alley for approximately fifteen minutes before an officer found him.
Caamano-Sotero was charged with two felonies, abduction and strangulation; and one misdemeanor, assault & battery of a family or household member. The victim told officers that beginning at 1:00 AM on September 10, Caamano-Sotero started assaulting her and refused to let her leave their apartment. At one point, he choked her until she briefly loss consciousness. At 1:00 PM, he allowed her to leave, as long as she returned promptly. He would not let her take her two young children with her when she left. The victim instead came to the Police Department and reported the incident.
Caamano-Sotero is being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail.
