'Pink Heals Tour' for Cancer Awareness Stops in Charlottesville

Posted: Updated:

Pink fire trucks are making their way through downtown Charlottesville Monday. The trucks are part of a nationwide tour to raise cancer awareness.

The Pink Heals Tour supports women battling all types of cancer around the country. Made up of firefighters, police officers and community leaders, the tour takes place every year.

The goal of the tour is to allow cancer survivors to tell their stories and hear one another's. People are encouraged to sign the pink trucks and leave messages of support.

All proceeds from Monday's event will go to the University of Virginia for cancer research.

The trucks are set up at the Omni Hotel in Charlottesville. The event runs until 7 p.m.
