School construction could give Madison County students an extended summer break next year. Madison High School is slated for $4.3 million of upgrades, including new heating and air-conditioning systems and a new roof.

Monday night, the school board will consider setting a start date for classes on September 2, 2014. That's after Labor Day.

Madison's superintendent says the county wants to give the contractor a longer time over the summer to finish the project.
