Edwards Wins Sprint Cup Series Race In Richmond

Posted: Updated:

Carl Edwards won the Sprint Cup Series race in Richmond Saturday night.

Kurt Busch finished second, while Ryan Newman placed third.

Newman was unable to make the final Chase field, after losing a tie-breaker with Martin Truex Jr.

Joey Logano finished 22nd at Richmond, and ended up 10th in the final standings, one point ahead of Jeff Gordon.

Gordon was 11th in the standings, but finished the season without a win.

Kasey Kahne and Truex Jr. earn the two Wild Card spots.

NASCAR resets the field of twelve heading into the final ten races based on both points, and wins.

Matt Kenseth holds on to the top spot with a series-high five wins this season.

He's three points head of Jimmie Johnson and Kyle Busch.

Kevin Harvick and Edwards are 4th and 5th, followed by Joey Logano and Greg Biffle.

Clint Bowyer, Dale Earnhardt Jr., and Logano round out the Top Ten, with Kahne and Truex in the final two spots.

The Sprint Cup Series will be in Chicago next week, with the green flag dropping Sunday at 2 PM.
