Charlottesville Bank Donates Big to Habitat for Humanity
A bank's big donation will help Habitat for Humanity of Greater Charlottesville provide affordable housing in the community.
Wells Fargo gave Habitat $15,000 Saturday morning after a week of volunteering at the Belmont Cottages project along Avon Street.
Bank employees say it's meaningful to provide support both financially and with hands-on building.
"It's important that we contribute not only from a financial perspective but we also come on site so we have a better connection to the cause that we serving and the communities that we also serve as well," said Wells Fargo District Manager Kesh Patel.
Wells Fargo set a goal of contributing 60 hours of physical work on the site this week.
The team of volunteers has nearly doubled that amount of donated time.
