Marine training shook up a lot of homes around Charlottesville and Albemarle County. The Marines conducted what they call "realistic urban exercises" around the Blue Ridge Sanatorium in Albemarle County on Thursday.
Some nearby describe feeling vibrations and hearing a train in the sky. Others say it was like listening to a loud movie about Vietnam.
"Mostly what we heard were the helicopters they were pretty low and they would go up higher and then another one would swoop down," said Rhonda Scovill, Lakeside.
The noisy exercises aren't expected around the sanatorium again.
More training is slated for this weekend near the Natural Bridge Juvenile Correctional Center in Natural Bridge Station.
