R.E. Lee And Wilson Memorial Square Off Friday Night
Wilson Memorial hosts R.E. Lee Friday at 7PM
The NBC 29/Kroger Tailgate Party will be at Wilson Memorial High School Friday night, as the Hornets host R.E. Lee in a big Augusta County showdown.
Wilson is 1-0 on the season, after defeating Waynesboro 35-15 last week.
Hornets head coach Jeremiah Major says, "It's great to get a game underneath our belt with the new guys we have out playing for us this year. Anytime you get some game experience, it's always beneficial, but it was definitely great to get the 'W.'"
The Leemen will be playing their first game of the season on Friday.
R.E. Lee head coach Dave Tibbs says, "Friday night's are the proof in the pudding, so to speak. You go out on Friday night's and play the games, and that's your test."
R.E. Lee has four-straight wins against Wilson Memorial since the teams renewed the rivalry in 2009, including a 14-13 victory last season.
Tibbs says, "We start off with a tough game against Wilson. They've really been on a roll the last couple of years. They've played us really close. We've had two really tough games the last two years, back-to-back have been tough ones."
"It's a big game," adds Major. "It's our second game of the year, and Lee High's first game. It's always been a big rival, and the last couple of year's it's been a close game, so it should be a good game to watch."
Wilson Memorial and R.E. Lee kick off Friday night at 7:00 PM in Fishersville.
