New Crozet Library Opens for Business

Posted: Updated:

The official ribbon-cutting won't happen until later this month, but Wednesday the new Crozet Library opened for business.

The 18,000-square-foot building offers a lot more space than the old building and new technologies to go with the books, including a literacy room and a dozen community use computers.

"We've been dealing with these plans for years now, flat on paper, and then all of a sudden you open up and its 3-D and there are people walking around and enjoying it off the page. That's what this is all about today, just a wonderful experience and I hope the community continues to enjoy it," said Wendy Saz, branch manager.

The plan is to eventually increase the library's book collection from 33,000 volumes to 75,000. The official ribbon-cutting is September 28.
