City of Charlottesville Offering Bicycle Education Classes
People living in Charlottesville
have the chance to take free bicycling education classes this month. The city of Charlottesville
is launching the pilot program in an effort to promote safe cycling.
On Saturday mornings throughout
September, cyclists of all ages can learn the rules of the road and how to ride
Organizers say they will focus on skill
drills in a traffic-free environment.
"This program is really aimed at trying to
get at that part of how do we inform and reach out to people who are interested
in maybe trying to cycle but also people who are also bicycling around town and
helping to support that so everyone can help use the roads safely," climate
program coordinator Susan Elliot said.
Classes are free for Charlottesville
residents and $15 for everyone else. For
