Posted: Updated:

Virginia Tech red shirt freshman Trey Edmunds rushed for 100 yards in his collegiate debut but the Crimson Tide's special teams helped the defending national champions beat the Hokies 35-10 at the Georgia Dome Saturday.

Alabama got three touchdowns out of junior receiver Christion Jones, two of which came from returns and safety Vinnie Sunseri returned an interception off Logan Thomas 38 yards for a touchdown.

The Crimson Tide scored less than two minutes into the game when Jones returned a punt 72-yards for a touchdown.

The Hokies home opener is Saturday at 1:30 against Western Carolina.
