He was one of the best defensive backs to ever play at Virginia, but Ras-I Dowling's pro career is in jeopardy.
Dowling was cut by the New England Patriots Thursday, after two injury plagued years in the NFL.
After being voted first team All-ACC his senior season at Virginia, Dowling was selected by the Patriots with the first pick of second round (#33 overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft.
Dowling started the first two games of his rookie season with New England at defensive back, but then suffered a season ending leg injury.
He played in six games last year before suffering another season ending injury with a torn quadriceps.
Dowling was fighting through injuries again this year in training camp.
