One of Albemarle County's most densely populated rural areas officially welcomed a new fire station Thursday.
The Ivy Fire Rescue Station held a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The University of Virginia, UVA Health System and Albemarle County funded the $2 million project. There's a new kitchen, fitness room and sleeping area.
State-of-the-art rescue equipment is expected to decrease emergency response times.
