The Augusta County Sheriff's Office is investigating an armed robbery at the BB&T Bank at 4033 Lee Jackson Highway in Greenville.

According to deputies, around 9:30 a.m. Thursday a man entered the bank with a handgun and took an undisclosed amount of money.

The Sheriff's Office says the suspect escaped on foot, and was last seen headed southbound toward Route 11 in a long-sleeved dark shirt, dark pants and a light, straw hat.

The suspect is described as a 5'11'' light-skinned African-American man, with a muscular build, approximately 28-40 years old.  He was wearing a black bandana over part of his face.

Virginia State Police are also investigating the robbery.

No one was hurt.
