Charlottesville Man Arrested on Aggravated Sexual Battery Charge
Michael Lee Saylor
A Charlottesville man is behind bars Wednesday after being charged with a child sex crime - and this isn't the first time he's faced a child sex charge.
Albemarle police are being very tight-lipped about the arrest details - but Michael Lee Saylor, 58, faces one count of aggravated sexual battery of a child under the age of 13.
Police learned about the alleged crime within the past few months and have been investigating. A police spokesperson wouldn't be specific on when the offense happened other than to say it was within the past several years.
Court records show that Saylor was arrested for an aggravated sexual battery charge - the victim under the age of 13 - back in 2010. A trial in 2012 ended in a mistrial. Prosecutors did not move forward with a second trial.
An assistant commonwealth's attorney says the 2010 case is a different case because the victim's initials on the warrants are not the same.
Saylor is currently being held without bond at the Albemarle Charlottesville Regional Jail. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on September 23.
