A retired Staunton school resource officer charged with trying to pick up an underage girl online was back in court Monday for a preliminary hearing.
Police arrested John Nuckolls, 55, in May as part of an underage sting operation. Officers say Nuckolls was really talking to an undercover cop online, and when he went to the place they agreed to meet - officers arrested him.
Nuckolls was released on bond after his initial arrest, but is back in custody because police say he violated his bond.
Nuckolls has another bond hearing on Wednesday.
