Charlottesville held its first community flea market Saturday. The Carver Recreation Center hosted the indoor flea market.

Thirty-five vendors set up shop to sell items including clothes, books and jewelry. Organizers say they chose to hold the flea market to feature a different kind of recreation.

"We're trying to offer different things every time and just get new people and new faces into the building so we can see what we're all about at Carver Rec Center. We just want this to be a place where everybody can come and recreate and have fun," Dan Carpenter, manager of the Carver Rec Center, said.

Organizers say about 300 people had stopped in to the flea market by its halfway point. They hope to make this an annual event.
