Firefighters "Fill the Boot" for the Muscular Dystrophy Association
Charlottesville firefighters collect donations for "Fill the Boot"
Charlottesville and Albemarle firefighters hit the streets Friday morning to raise money for a good cause. They were at intersections throughout the area for the "Fill the Boot" fundraiser.
Drivers are able to make donations to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Some rain put a damper on collections, but not for long.
"We've gathered a couple hundred dollars so far myself, and hopefully we'll be able to hit our mark for the day. I don't know what that is but as much as possible of course," said Sam Jeffers, Charlottesville firefighter who was collecting donations at the intersection of Emmet Street and Ivy Road.
Firefighters will be collecting donations at intersections throughout the area from August 22 - 25 and from August 39 - September 1.
Last year, the firefighters collected about $6,000.
