Students are back in class right now at Stuarts Draft Middle School after a morning lockdown.

Superintendent for Augusta County Public Schools Chuck Bishop confirms that a teacher on parking lot duty noticed a suspicious man sitting in a vehicle - a construction worker said to be sleeping off a drug high - in the school's parking lot as students were being dropped off around 7:45 a.m. The teacher also noticed a gun and crossbow in the back seat of the vehicle.

A Code Yellow Lockdown was put in place at the middle school and the adjoining elementary and high school while police responded.

Brent Painter, 28, of Stuarts Draft was taken into custody and has been charged with public intoxication and obstruction of justice. He is being held on secure $1,000 bond.

Authorities later discovered the gun was an air-powered BB gun and there were no arrows with the crossbow.
