UPDATE: Waynesboro Man Arrested, Charged with Assault & Battery

UPDATE: According to the Waynesboro Police Department, on August 22 at approximately 7:30 p.m., officers arrested William Anthony Maddox II an apartment in the 1300 block of Hamlet Ave. Police say an anonymous tipster notified the Waynesboro EOC of Maddox's whereabouts.  He is being held at Middle River Regional Jail on a $2000 bond.

The Waynesboro Police Department has concluded the investigation in the August 9th stabbing and has obtained charges against the Waynesboro man who was stabbed.  William Anthony Maddox II, 18 years old, is wanted on two misdemeanor counts of assault & battery.   Officers determined the two sixteen year old girls were in fact the victims of an attack by Maddox and the injuries he sustained were inflicted by the girls in self-defense.

If anyone has information on the whereabouts of Maddox, they are asked to call the Waynesboro Police Department at (540) 942-6675 or Central Shenandoah Crime Stoppers at 1 800 322-2017.  Information given to Crime Stoppers may be given anonymously.  Callers with information that lead to an arrest in this case are eligible for a cash reward of up to $1000.

The Waynesboro Police Department is investigating an overnight stabbing that sent an 18 year old Waynesboro man to the University of Virginia Medical Center with serious injuries.  At 12:40 AM, officers responded to the city's east side for a report of a stabbing.  At a residence in the 1300 block of Second St, the officers located the victim suffering from two stab wounds.  The officers rendered first aid to the victim until the Waynesboro First Aid Crew arrived. 

The victim told the officers that he had been stabbed by two teenage girls at Balli Food Mart, 608 N Delphine Ave, and then fled on his bicycle. Other individuals at the residence told officers that they found the injured man nearby and brought him to their home and then called for assistance.  The WFAC transported him to Augusta Health, where he was airlifted to the UVA Medical Center.  He is currently in stable condition with stab wounds to his back and upper arm.

The victim identified two sixteen year old Waynesboro girls as his attackers.  While officers were still investigating the incident, both juveniles and their parents arrived at to the Police Department where they were interviewed.  Officers also recovered a folding knife supposedly used in the incident.  The juveniles claimed the victim attacked them and one of them had a knife which she used to defend herself.

Presently, no charges have been obtained in this case.
