Poll Includes Virginians' Perception of McDonnell's Honesty

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - A new Virginia poll shows Democratic former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton tops other possible 2016 presidential contenders, gives Sen. Mark Warner strong job-approval ratings, and shows voters are split over whether Gov. Bob McDonnell is honest and sick of New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg butting into Virginia business.

Forty-six percent in Quinnipiac University's just-released poll would back Clinton to 37% for Republican New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie if the presidential race was today. She'd crush GOP Texas Sen. Ted Cruz 53% to 34%.

Sixty-one percent approve of Warner's performance, unchanged from last month.

Forty-two percent considered McDonnell honest; 41 percent didn't.

And 52% say Bloomberg shouldn't meddle in Virginia gun-control policy.

The survey of 1,374 registered voters has a plus-or-minus 2.6%age point error margin.
