The Jefferson-Madison Regional Library is making plans to move its busiest branch into a new home next year. Architects are drawing up designs right now for the Phillips building on West Rio Road to become the new Northside Library.

Albemarle County wants to open the library by October 2014 when its lease runs out in Albemarle Square Shopping Center.

The library is hosting a community meeting Thursday night to find out what users want in a new Northside.

"The feedback is really important. With this timeline, the architects really need to get to work on their plans later on this fall. So, we need to get all the ideas in now so the architects can consider them, work them into the plans, and then the public would have more time in September or October to weigh in on it again," said John Halliday, Jefferson-Madison Regional Library director.

Thursday's meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the Northside Library in Albemarle Square.
