UVa Football Lacks Seniors - Not Leadership

Posted: Updated:

The UVa football team has been a-buzz with young talent. They have a new 5-star tailback, Taquan Mizzell, and a redshirt sophomore, David Watford, starting at quarterback.

But the program has the third fewest seniors in all of the FBS.

This year the Cavaliers only have 8 seniors on the roster.

South Carolina has the least amount of seniors with five, followed by UCF with seven, putting the 'Hoos in third place.

Head Coach Mike London says its not about what year his players are in school. London said, "The team is led by team leaders. You know, and not necessarily those seniors we were talking about or the lack thereof that we have. By guys like Trey Nicholson, Darius Jennings, Matt Snyder's our captain, Luke Bowanko is a captain...There's enough of those guys that have been around the past couple of years that have kind of set a culture that we want and we demand. If they're still with us, they've bought into it. If they're not with us, they haven't bought into it, they're playing at other places or are doing other things."
