Waynesboro Man Charged after Crash Involving Stolen Vehicle

The Waynesboro Police Department has charged a Waynesboro man after an early morning crash involving a stolen vehicle. On August 20 at approximately 1:30 AM, officers responded to a crash of a motor vehicle into a house in the 400 block of N Winchester Ave. At the scene they found Clyde Daniel Brown III, 35 years old, intoxicated but uninjured.
Officers determined that the vehicle Brown was driving, a 2000 Cadillac Escalade, went over a curb, down an embankment and clipped a tree before hitting a satellite dish and the residence's front porch. Damage to the residence is estimated at $700; damage to the vehicle is estimated at $5000. Brown had taken the vehicle from a family member's residence without her permission to run an errand. He has been charged with felony unauthorized use of a vehicle and DUI.
He is free on bond.
