UVa Men's & Women's Soccer Host "Meet the Team Day"
Hundreds flocked to John Paul Jones Arena as the UVa men's and women's soccer teams held their "Meet the Team Day" Sunday.
Both teams lined up along the edges of the arena to sign their John Hancock's.
In 2012, The men's team made it all the way to the second round of the NCAA tournament and they are gearing up to face one of their newest ACC opponents, Louisville, in their season opener August 30th.
Meanwhile, the women are the defending ACC Champs but this year their hoping to bring home and NCAA title as well.
All say this event helps motivate them for the season.
UVa Head Women's Soccer Coach, Steve Swanson said, "The neat thing about our town is a lot of the younger players can come out and watch these games but at the same time there's this opportunity to get to know them and I think that's the difference...Anytime we can get our players to meet the young players I think its a real good thing."
UVa Men's Soccer Defender, Scott Thomsen added, "I still remember being a little kid and watching Division 1 soccer, professional soccer on TV, so to see them come out and support us like this, it's really an honor...Having the crowd around us at Klockner is a huge bonus and we really wanna take that into the season and use that to an advantage because that plays a huge part in college soccer so we're looking forward to it."
