UVa Football Uses "Meet The Team Day" as Motivation
Virginia football fans who wanted to get an up close and personal view of the team didn't have to wait until the season opener, as the Cavaliers held their annual "Meet the Team Day" event Sunday at John Paul Jones Arena.
UVa supporters waited in lines that stretched wall to wall inside JPJ all to get a signature and some face time with the Football team.
With eight home games on the schedule the Cavaliers say events like this make all the difference as try and fill Scott Stadium with navy blue and orange.
Cornerback Demetrious Nicholson said, "Its a great atmosphere to have all these fans behind us. Going into the season with these great team - we're gonna need all these fans out there to support us." Quarterback, Greyson Lambert, added, "We really appreciate all the fans that came out today and that are still coming and all the fans that will be there August 31st. It means a lot.
With hundreds of young kids vying to meet their idols, the guys say their support inspires them. Nicholson said, "It gives you motivation, you know? Campus and the grind. We see each other everyday and we kind of get dull a little bit so you gotta remember that those are the people that look up to you and support you."
All helping to fuel their fire as they gear up to face BYU August 31st.
