Charlottesville Police Investigate 15th Street Robbery
15th Street in Charlottesville
Charlottesville police are looking for two men who robbed a 21-year-old man in Charlottesville early Thursday morning.
We are told the robbery happened at gunpoint around 2 a.m. on 15th Street SW. Police say the victim was walking near the intersection with Sadler Street when two men approached him from behind, forced him to the ground, and took money and other personal items.
The incident happened very close to the University of Virginia but the victim is not a UVA student.
"The biggest thing is taking those safety issues into consideration: never walk alone at night, at 2 a.m., walk in groups and if you're leaving some of the areas along the Corner you may want to think about other modes of transportation to go home too - especially if you're by yourself," said Lt. Ronnie Roberts, spokesperson for the Charlottesville Police Department.
Charlottesville police are investigating three other robberies that happened over the weekend. Investigators say they are evaluating each one separately.
Charlottesville police are asking anyone with information on this case to call Crime Stoppers at 434-977-4000.
