Fluvanna County Shooting Victim Dies from Injuries

A double shooting in Fluvanna County is now considered a murder-suicide. Investigators at the Sheriff’s Office say 28-year-old Crystal Trent died overnight at the University of Virginia Medical Center after she was shot twice at close range Wednesday.
Trent was found wounded on the porch of a home on Gravel Hill Road Wednesday morning.
Investigators say 41-year-old Jerry Palmer shot her and then turned the gun on himself. Palmer was found dead in the yard.
It is believed the two were arguing over domestic issues.
Fluvanna County Sheriff's Office Statement:
"Update on yesterday's shooting. Sadly, Ms. Trent passed away over the night. As such, we are investigating her death as a homicide. The prime suspect in her death at this time is Jerry Palmer, who was found dead at the scene.
It is believed at this time that Palmer shot Trent twice at close range and then turned the gun on himself. It is believed that the two were arguing over domestic issues.
There will be no further updates until the official cause and manner of death is determined by the Office of the Chief Medical examiner. We ask that everyone respect the privacy of both families in this tragedy during their time of mourning."
