Charlottesville Cab Driver Robbed at Gunpoint Speaks Out

Posted: Updated:

A Charlottesville cab driver says he was robbed at gunpoint this weekend - now, he is sharing his story, to help other drivers stay safe.

Josh Fielder says he picked up a single passenger in Charlottesville around 3:20 a.m. Sunday. He says he asked the passenger where he wanted to go, and he gave him step-by-step directions to a poorly lit parking lot.

"As soon as I put the van in park the door was opened and the gun was shoved in my face by two other gentlemen that were waiting and all he said was 'empty it, empty it, empty it' and I handed him all my cash and he took my phone, patted me down, made me get down on the pavement, had the gun to my head the entire time," said Fielder.

Albemarle County police are searching for three men involved in this robbery. Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 434-977-4000.
