David Watford Named Virginia Starting Quarterback

Posted: Updated:

UVa sophomore quarterback David Watford has been named Virginia's starting quarterback for the season opener August 31st against BYU.

Virginia coach Mike London made the announcement Monday morning on his teleconference with reporters.

Watford beat out redshirt freshman quarterback Greyson Lambert for the starting job.  Watford is the only quarterback on Virginia's roster with any college playing experience.

Watford played in 10 games as a true freshman in 2011.    He completed 30 of 74 passes for 376 yards.  He threw 3 touchdowns and had 4 interceptions.

Watford redshirted in 2012.

London also said he feels really good about Greyson Lambert and all his quarterbacks.
