Black Knights Hold Intrasquad Scrimmage & Fundraiser
Charlottesville head coach Eric Sherry
The start of the high school football season is less than three weeks away.
Teams in Central Virginia have been on the practice field since last Thursday, sweating out two-a-days in the August heat.
Charlottesville decide to change things up Saturday, as the Black Knights hosted their first annual intrasquad scrimmage and golf tournament fundraiser.
The golf was played in the morning, while the football was on the turf Saturday night.
Charlottesville is coming off its first playoff appearance in a decade, and the Knights were inviting fans to come out and check the progress of the team so far through the preseason.
Junior linebacker Larry Anderson says, "It was just about seeing where we're at. Anybody can come out, watch us, from last year, because everybody knows what we did last year. We're coming back up, and ready to go."
Head coach Eric Sherry adds, "It's been a great day. I got a lot of good work done tonight, and the fundraiser went well this morning. The rain held off until the last couple of holes, so we were fine."
Charlottesville plays its first game of the season August 30th at Eastern View.
