Fundraiser at Charlottesville Restaurant to Help Save Preschool
Guests at the fundraiser dined at Maya in Charlottesville.
Saturday was day 30 of a
90 day push to save the Barrett Early Learning Center in Charlottesville.
People from across the
community gathered at Maya restaurant on West Main Street for a lunch to
benefit the state's oldest preschool.
The center announced in July
it would have to close its doors.
This fundraising push to
raise $75,000 is keeping the preschool afloat.
"We set a goal of 90 days
for $75,000, and we're well on our way, we know this is going to help in that
direction, we're still looking for the community to offer various forms of
support - we're confident that this is going to be the jumpstart that will lead
to the future that we're all expecting and excited about," Hodari Hamilton,
president of the Center, said.
So far, the Center is a
third of the way to its $75,000 goal.
