A new book includes the Iris Inn of Waynesboro with an elite group of bed-and-breakfasts. After reaching the national Select Registry list, the owners of the Iris Inn are excited to announce they're now in the top 1 percent of their industry.
Only 350 in all of the country earn the top award, and there are only two others in all of Virginia that made the cut. The owners said they invested thousands of dollars toward reaching this goal. While they've won other honors, they say this is a special one.
"It's fabulous. It's been one of our goals since we bought the inn six years ago and we're very proud of it. We went through a very rigorous, unannounced inspection," said Heidi Lanford, co-owner at the inn.
That inspection took place in February. There were about 1,000 criteria evaluated for the list. The interior, exterior, customer service and amenities were all judged.
The owners also said about 1,500 reservations are made there annually. With their new luxury suites open though, they're hoping to accommodate even more guests.
