Greene Historical Society Moving Locations Thanks to Donation
Greene County Historical Society's new location
The Greene County Historical Society is on the move - thanks to a generous donation. The money will fund the move to a larger location on Main Street in Stanardsville.
Lindwood Rhodes, a longtime resident of the county, left the Greene County Historical Society $630,000 after he passed away.
"He said 'Boy these people really care about the history of Greene,' he said 'and I think I'd like to do something special for them,' and that's what happened. And one thing lead to another and the will was made out to us," said Bill Steo of the Greene County Historical Society.
Board members hope to have the new location up and running in the next 6 months.
