Salvation Army School Supply Donations Dwindle

Posted: Updated:

More supplies are needed for the Charlottesville Salvation Army's annual back-to-school drive.

So far there have been no donations. Organizers say donations have dwindled in the past few years, perhaps because of the slow economy, and hope this year will be better.

"We're looking for lots of backpacks and spiral-bound notebooks, pencils, pens, you name it - all sorts of back-to-school items for children," said Lisa Chapman, director of volunteer services for Charlottesville's Salvation Army.

You can drop off supplies for elementary and middle school kids in barrels marked with the Salvation Army logo, found at the following locations:

Kmart

Piedmont Virginia Community College

Walgreens

Sam's Club

State Farm

Avenue Realty, LLC

Forest Lakes Farms Market

University of Virginia Bookstore

ACAC
500 Albemarle Square
111 Monticello Ave.

Virginia National Bank

1900 Arlington Blvd.
