Judge Dismisses Former Police Chief as Defendant in Harmon-Wright Lawsuit

Posted: Updated:

A judge has dismissed former Culpeper Police Chief Dan Boring as a defendant in a lawsuit stemming from the fatal shooting of a woman by a former officer - but Culpeper County Circuit Court Judge Susan Whitlock rejected the town of Culpeper's motion to dismiss current police chief Chris Jenkins as a defendant.

The lawsuit alleges that Boring and Jenkins were negligent in hiring, supervising, training and retaining former police officer Daniel Harmon-Wright.

Harmon-Wright was convicted of fatally shooting 54-year-old Patricia Ann Cook of Culpeper on February 9, 2012.

Cook's brother filed the lawsuit.
