A community theater in the valley is tackling a big show and there's no looking back.
ShenanArts in Staunton is putting on a production of the epic tale of passion and destruction in 19th-century France: Les Miserables.
Fifty-two cast members, including two sets of leading characters and a 16-piece orchestra, are bringing the story to life. The director says taking on a show this big is no small feat.
"The technical requirements are huge. The casting in terms of looking for people who have big, fantastic voices is big. So those things made for a lot of challenges for us, but boy have we met them," said Diane Cale Stewart, the play's director.
The play runs Thursday through Sunday for the next two weeks.
The ShenanArts nTelos Theater is at Gypsy Hill Place.
